A few weeks ago I noticed a couple of withdrawals from my bank account and flagged them. Both from Disney, total about $35. Yesterday I got a notice from my bank asking if a $156 purchase was mine from Paramount. No it isn't, and apparently some attempts from American basketball or baseball had been tried. So they have cancelled my card fair enough, and it will take weeks to resolve with no guarantee that I will get my money back.
So yeah they cancelled my card but the same card number can still be used on my phone wallet as it works in a different way, weird but thankful. I don't normally use my phone wallet but had it set up anyway. So now I have to change all my direct debit things that are linked to that card which is a bit of a pain.
This cold is still lingering even the sore throat which is usually the first thing to leave. It's Thursday tho so there's that.
Edit. Aaaaaand I just went to buy tickets for Lotto and of course that's the bloody card that I usually use, which of course was declined, and those were the winning numbers I tell yah......DOH.
You can use something like Revulot to create disposable credit cards, or restricted credit cards that you can enable/disable with the tap of a button in the app.
I got one (including the physical card in case its required) on the Standard (aka free) plan for use when travelling or buying dodgy shit off the internet. For e.g. I used it to buy a phone plan in NZ, and only activated it for the one transaction. That way if Rocket Mobile had decided to sting me another month after I cancel it wouldnt have worked. They didnt scam me cause NZ people are good people (unlike US people... ) but still.
I just put $250 on there and will just burn through that eventually. If people try to scam me, at least my losses are limited to $250.
