Yeah, I'm not really engaging with it this year because there's not really any way to know the dev is actually committed to a project or just shat it out over the weekend

If you thought Early Access became a problem with unfinished titles, imagine the games that can get to launch with devs that can't fix their games at all.

honest question,

would that filter be voluntary? or is there an effective way to determine which games were vibe coded?

because if it's voluntary, no one would confess.

You're technically correct, but practically wrong. See, a reasonable and logical person would not do that, but people using AI to slop things together aren't reasonable people, they have very little critical thinking skills and their brains are mostly cooked, they are often happy to openly admit they used AI, if not downright preemptively defensive about it. It is all us stupid people who don't like their slop that are wrong, not them, and they want to make sure we know it and know what we're missing out on for being such stupid backwards luddites.

It's not like there is a shortage of games on Steam that are willing to disclose that AI was used in their development and have already done so. The prospect of not disclosing and keeping that a secret seems like a really uncomfortable way to do things.
