[Alpine Linux][River 0.5] Finally got a working setup. First time really going from bare installation to full desktop setup on my own.

A while ago I already tried getting river 0.4+ to run but something always went wrong. Finally got around to properly work it out and now I'm testing different window managers and what other software I need for what I generally do on a computer.

After booting, the system uses < 300 MB of RAM in a VM and < 400 MB on actual hardware of a spare laptop. Don't know if that's really amazing but it's much less than what I have seen on other distros so far.

Kept the style on topic with a wallpaper showing a view of the Alps ('cause Alpine Linux, you know) and found a font that looks fitting in combination with the painting (and for the terminal font the name also comes from a mountain in the Alps).

400mb is about what im getting with Rhine counting cache, 224mb actually used. Gotta love how lean Alpine is ;3

Are the screenshots from multiple sessions or did you manage to make each monitor use a different window manager?

Unusual font choose you got for the launcher.

The screenshots are from different sessions. You just have to tell river which window manager to use when it starts up, either via init script or with "river -c <name_of_window_manager>".

And yeah I found the font on the site of the news organization "The New Republic" and thought it looked cool and could fit the rest of this theme.

Man this setup looks dope. I just got a new distro set up, but this makes me want to switch and try Alpine Linux…

I saw this recommended as a good server OS but went with AlmaLinux minimum instead.
