out of pocket costs (u.s.)
as a transfemme resident of the so-called u.s.a. who is uninsured and not likely to be insured soon, does anyone have a rough idea about the cost out-of-pocket for hrt through planned parenthood? i'm sure there's variables that affect cost, but it would be good to know what to be prepared for at the initial appointment as well as month-to-month. thankees!

GoodRX gives you discount codes and prices broken down by pharmacy. It will save you a ton and you don't need an account or to pay anything. You can ignore the "companion" thing on the site.
I'm on 0.3mL per week of estradiol valerate. A 5mL bottle is $52 using this coupon. That covers me for 13+ weeks. Injection supplies are a few dollars per week max. Progesterone adds $28/month with a coupon.
thanks for the info!
I don't use planned parenthood, but also in the so-called U.S. and my pharmacy refuses to run my meds through my insurance (but will for my wife), so I effectively pay out of pocket. It runs me about $36 every three months for oral estradiol, spiro, and finasteride.
thanks for the info. i had feared in the hundreds per month so that is a huge relief!
Hello, and congrats on your transition! I wish you the best in sorting out how you can get access to your HRT, and I have some info that I'd like to get to you in private if that's okay. I DM'd you on Lemmy, but I don't know if that works with piefed accounts. If not, could I contact you via Signal or Matrix? No problem if not, I just wanna get some info to u if ur interested!
I also do wanna throw out there that if the out of pocket cost is prohibitive, DIY HRT is cheap in the long run. I have a 10mL vial of 40mg/mL Estradiol Cypionate that I bought a year and a half ago for $100 that I've been using this whole time and still haven't run out. Unfortunately, I don't know the true out of pocket for the refills, but I would expect it to be more expensive than the DIY route. We have a lovely community at ![email protected] for info about DIY if that's an option ur interested in!
thank you. i replied via dm also.
i will check out the diy community. i'm mostly looking to get better informed before i make any appointments or commit to anything.
