The year is 3049. A small skirmish on the periphery alerts House Davion to the threat, and advanced technology, of the clans for the first time. Davion engineers carefully transfer a piece of clan technology for the first time to a legacy inner sphere mech.
Engineer: Lord Davion, we've installed the new clan tech "Double Heatsinks" on your mechs.
Lord Davion: All of the inner sphere will cower at my new mechs!
Engineer: Well...they probably laugh, and I don't see them cowering any time soon.
