I think we were sold a weasel instead of a dog

Mittelspitz Sera (Seraphim) at 8 weeks old.

It's wild going from a 25kg adult dog to a kilo-and-change puppy. My back hurts from crouching down constantly.

Might also be a black bear cub...

Don't let her appearance fool you, she is a right menace. Stubborn as a mule, too smart for her own (and our) good and endless energy supply. As much as we adore her, it's so exhausting at times. Gotta remind ourselves that she's a puppy only once, gotta enjoy it while it lasts, but goddamn I wish I could walk to the other side of the house without a tiny dog holding onto my pant leg. (We're working on it, it's getting better, but resurfaces during evening zoomies when she's overtired.)

What surprised us the most is how smart she is, and how ridiculously quickly puppies learn. After 4 days, she had 5 commands down: her name (placeholder for recall for now), sit, touch, leave it and "go pee". On top of that, she's learned to recognize multiple words that aren't exactly commands, like "cat", "food", "outside" and "dog". It's astonishing.
