Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (2001, 480p) A terrorist explosion releases a deadly virus on the masses and it's up to the bounty-hunting Bebop crew to catch the cold-blooded culprit [Halloween-A-Thon]
If you're unfamiliar with it, Cowboy Bebop started as a sci-fi television series (which is also fantastic), and later had this movie made to cap it off.
You don't need to have seen the show to watch the movie, and it's not a bad way to introduce yourself to the series, as it does a good job of introducing the characters and works as a standalone story.
Thought this would be a good one to post for the halloween theme, since the movie takes place during halloween :D

Ive watched the show several times and had no idea there was a movie 0.o thanks!
The movie slips seamlessly between season one and two.
I thought there was only one season?
Yeah I guess I'm out to lunch on that one. In my head it happens earlier but I guess it actually happens between episodes 22 and episode 23. For some reason I had it mapped to fitting in between episodes 11/12+13, just because there is such a strong tonal shift, and after episode 13, the whole thing becomes much darrker.
I only remember so harshly because when I was watching it, I was so excited for season 2. Lol. It's easily my favorite anime.
Greatest of all time. Hands down.
The thing is, anything more would be a detraction. I choose not to acknowledge the Netflix thing.
Things shouldn't go on forever. They should have a beginning, a middle then an end. And then they should end.
Dragging out stories meant to be a way for more seasons is something fans think they want and businesses live, because it keeps people consuming. But it makes for shit art.
Oh absolutely and I love the fourth wall news hosts in the series, lol.
Like The Queen's Gambit. Such a great series without need for any more.
Soundtrack for this slaps
Pumpkin Head is straight choonz, bruv.
You're gonna carry that weight.
Killer soundtrack too. Clutch was perfect for that scene
I watched the whole series a while back and enjoyed it immensely. I recently started watching the universally derided Netflix live adaption, and I have to say, for all that it's definitely weaker then the original show, I enjoy seeing some of the same stories and definitely the characters in a live action format. I feel the actors for the primary roles got their characters mostly right. Sometimes, the show even gets the vibe from the original series. Rather than hating it, I'm just seeing it as a lost opportunity on the part of the riders and showrunners.
All that being said, I never did watch the movie so I guess this is my cue to go ahead and get that done. If it's anywhere near as good as the original series, it's going to be well worth it.
Exactly how I felt although I do have to say. Jet in the live action is better than Jet in the anime. At least to me.
John Cho did a solid spike. Nobody could ever be a great live action Spike but he did a good job of it.
Mustafa Shakir does really embody Jet. He gives the character a lot more range of emotion.
I agree with you on Cho. I can't think of anyone who could have done it better, but it's a very hard character to translate. I think if they had a longer run of the show, he could have probably added a lot more to the character.
Daniella Pineda hit all the right notes with Faye, too. Like Spike, Faye is difficult to translate, but I think she got it essentially right. I think it helped that they added some more background to the character early in the series that didn't necessarily come into play in the original until fairly late.
Thanks for this.
I'm just getting started watching the tv show now, on like the tenth episode. A friend cajoled me into starring it, glad they did.
Well watch this movie when I finish the show.👍
Almost forgot:
Adiós, space cowboy
Heck yeah! :D
On a side note, the movie officially takes place between episode 22 and 23, so it's possible to watch the movie chronologically before finishing the show, though there's still some debate in the bebop community if it should be watched after the show instead (I'd probably suggest watching it afterward as an especially polished send-off).
I feel like the joss weadon Nathan filion show was based on this.
Remember now Firefly. I hope they bring it back as rumored.
They do have a similar-ish vibe with the found family theme, wouldn't surprise me if it had some influence.
They've confirmed a firefly animated series is being produced, which is pretty rad. You can read more about that over on ![email protected]
