So, it's one thing to use the platform to reach the people, but it's another thing entirely to rely on the platform as sole means of communication. I don't know which they were doing, but I've seen a number of groups fully relying on things like Facebook and Meta products in general, and that's just not sustainable. Like, maybe if you have a link there to your actual, page or whatever it is, that's fine, but to rely on it entirely is not wise and not sustainable.
That isn't to say that there's a ready alternative, but I think if groups didn't rely on it so completely there probably would be by now.
I do take your meaning though and it is entirely valid.
