In the very early days the 9 pin was used for video. The extra pins were added when VGA obtained Plug ‘n Play compatibility.

That was CGA/EGA, digital RGB

VGA has always been 15 pin D-sub, analog RGB

Though IBM always used DE-15 connectors for their Video Graphics Array hardware, several VGA clone hardware makers initially did not. Instead, some early VGA hardware, both monitors and graphics cards, used the PGC standard of a DE-9 connector for analog RGB (VGA).

I carried a male to female gender bender in the van for years before I realized it was a 0.5" cable extender. You're going to want a female to female or male to male gender bender to convert a cable. I will not be accepting questions at this time.

it's a sex changer, genital changer or a double fleshlight, but definitely not a gender changer

the female/male metaphor for socket/plug is related to genitals, which are independent of gender

I feel this is more like a double fleshlight than a gender changer. You and the homie can have fun, but sooner or later someone's going to mention what their girlfriend never let them try.
