Steam Frame & VR Games offering

I've been using a Reverb G2 for the past few years, until it decided to not power up last week (R.I.P.). Now from these years playing VR I had fun, found a few good gems here and there, mostly playing co-op games with a buddy of mine.

A reccurent grief we've had is that the VR games offering was poor, like the store-front when opening SteamVR would showcase the same games for the past 3 years... With the release of the Steam Frame, I'm of course tempted to jump on ship (or at least the 1-year queue behind it), but I also wonder whether that somehow boosted general interest in PCVR? Are new games ported from Meta's OS name I can't recall arriving on the Steam VR store, giving it the fresh breeze it needed?

That hardest part of VR is just knowing where to look for great VR games, not that they don't exist. You have to dig for people who test a lot of VR games and will talk about the games they like that barely anyone are talking about but also sometimes you have to take a chance with a game that you might not think would be good can surprise you. There are a lot of VR games coming out with zero marketing budget and disapear instantly. Right now i have 483 VR games on steam and i like a lot of them XD

Are there any hidden gems you'd like to mention?

I'm having a hard time knowing what would be considered a hidden gem in my library since i've seen people cover most of them but one i've really enjoyed and not seen much about is "one true path". I see that it's quite short. It took me 48mins to finish but it says it's only part one so hopefully more are coming. It's basically a book where you are the hero made into a VR game and it's very enjoyable.

Great shout! So how about some proper unhidden gems then?

Right now i'm having a great time with tiny flock, tales of glory 4, dirt rally 2, knights of fiona and unloop :)

Edit: i forgot to add that i just finished the titan fall 2 VR mod as well wich was quite amazing as a first time playing the game at all.

Maybe there should be a thread (?pinned somewhere?) where we post a list or ss our VR games list, I have around 110 myself. Cause yeah, finding good VR games can be daunting, steam needs to add more VR to the main offering/game ad page. Most of my suggestions come from viewers.

Personally enjoying ConVRgence and struggling through Into the Radius 2 with a buddy (some tough bugs to crack but overall very enjoyable), ItR1 is amazing, complete, and has a tone of mods to make replay better, my favourite next to a better gas mask visually was the scavenger mod+no shop, there is also a stalker mod.

I played a bit of itr1but i was dying a lot and didn't really enjoy the combat that much. Maybe a bit too realistic for my taste XD i love manual reaload but having to refill the couple magazines i have with bullet boxes all the time was pretty bad.

I actually enjoyed that, just buy more mags than can fit in your vest store them in your side bag or backpack, lost mags because I was reloading under fire and just tossed em to the ground then moved away and forgot where I dropped em. ItR2 and ConVRgence are similar style. You may enjoy the Arizona Sunshine/2/After the Fall games better(get the AZ remake instead of the original as the engine is better and you get melee weapons as well), love those too they are more arcade type shooters with a choice of realistic reload or 'quick' reload where you drop the spent shells then bring the gun to your chest to reload.

I played the original arizona sunshine in 2019 with my brother and it was amazing. I also played the second and i played a bit of after the fall but not much. I also really enjoyed the world war Z VR game.

World War Z? Damn 45% off right now in the bundle with the flat for $3 more than the VR alone, think I'll add that to my library tonight. Thanks!!!

The situation hasn't really changed with Steam Frame's release, unfortunately. With its pricing and stock issues, I don't think it'll have a significant impact on the VR games market.

At the moment the big stuff doesn't seem to be happening in the official channels. A ton of VR ports have come out in the last weeks and it doesn't seem to be stopping. Even the new Star Wars Racer game has a VR port already.

On top of that there are now ways to play Quest and PSVR games on your PC or directly on the Frame. Of course that means you'll have to somehow aquire the game files. One of the Quest-things seemed to be downloading what you bought directly from the Quest store. But it was still taken down.

So while there isn't a lot of "new" stuff there is still plenty of games.

Probably a bit too early for that still. All I noticed so far were some nice discounts for VR games, and I guess developers will be monitoring sales of those closely in the coming months.

I am hopeful that the frame triggers more high detail vr games. While those are being developed though I have been loving flat to VR mods. The Titanfall 2 VR mod is by far the best looking and feeling vr experience you can have for $5 (or at least was $5 when I bought the game)

Really hard to justify a $20 quest port with mobile graphics when you compare it to something that actually makes my GPU work and looks beautiful.
