Dan Levy hits out at Shane Gillis over ‘misogynist’ comments in SNL monologue

“Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores, it makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There’s a difference there,” Levy said, adding that he’d “seen more men’s nipples at the gym than I’ve ever seen women showing their bodies off”.

The fact that Shane Gillis was hosting (a third time?) tells you everything you need to know about snl.

Not saying I'm a fan. He does have a strong case to be the top comic in the US, though.

He did say whores, it did get a lot of laughs, maybe he was joking maybe not.

Definitely bait. Not even very good bait either lol

I didn't know who this guy was, but I watched a few SNL clips this weekend and damn, I haven't been so unamused by a comedian in ages. Enough People like him that he's famous?

He set records at 34 venues across North America over roughly 100 shows, and some of those nights really stand out.

In Philadelphia, he sold around 77,000 tickets at Lincoln Financial Field, which earned him a Guinness World Record, and he packed the Wells Fargo Center too. He sold out Madison Square Garden in New York several nights over and broke a multi-night record at TD Garden in Boston. Toronto's Scotiabank Arena saw its biggest ticket sales ever, and in Seattle, his show became the most attended event in Climate Pledge Arena's history.

He also played to sold-out crowds at Capital One Arena in D.C., Chase Center in San Francisco, PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, and Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati. The list keeps going from there: Cleveland, Columbus, Buffalo, Albany, Raleigh, Louisville, Detroit, Chicago, Nashville, Charlotte, Minneapolis, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Omaha, Tampa, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, Birmingham, Vancouver, Portland, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas, and more.

He took the tour overseas as well, with stops at the O2 Arena in London and the 3Arena in Dublin.

I guess people like him then! Was any of that tour funny? Or was it just more trying to bother people? Both?

2

He spoke out against Trump to the tall and funny Joe Rogan on his Joe Rogan experience podcast; that bothered some people.

I sometimes use the weekend updates as a more credible source for news.

I would really hate it if something really really bad happened to Shane Gillis. I'd be so sad if something awful and terrible happened to him. If his career was ruined, I would never recover. If he was publicly humiliated and reviled, it would bring me no peace. If his incredible shame became a joke and a threat, if his name became associated with disgusting, putrid filth, it would make me so, so depressed.

I hope nobody avoids and shuns him, and that his pets never shit directly on his feet 5 times per day, and his car never gets destroyed by an angry mob, and he keeps all his friends, and his hair, and his bladder and bowel control, forever

I believe Dan hits the gym way more than Shane does, but being a gym rat is not a pre-requisite for calling out misogyny.

I don't know how you'd come to that conclusion. (Who actually goes to the gym.)

He did say whores, it did get a lot of laughs, maybe he was joking maybe not.

Advocates of modesty norms would counter that shared spaces benefit from common standards of decency, and that some reasonable limits exist everywhere. The debate is mostly about where that line sits and whether it's drawn evenly.

Two known gym rats

You brought the subject up.

It's a bad, misogynistic joke and it should be called out.

You reached the end
