The GOP’s Culture-War Hail Mary
Last week, as the war with Iran dragged into its seventh month, gas prices shot up to an average of $4.50 a gallon, and polling showed President Trump about twice as far underwater with American voters as he was at this point in 2018, Republican senators determined that the time had come to discuss something else entirely: youth sports. “Girls’ sports are for girls. Boys’ sports are for boys,” Senator Marsha Blackburn said in a news conference.

Let's blow up this race, and ensure that Jerri Green gets elected instead of Blackburn.
It's indicative of our situation that all republicans have to do is tout some vulnerable minority to be attacked, and their base eats it up.
What troubles me, is that none of these democrats are saying the right thing in response. What they should be saying is this:
You know a lot has been said about trans people in America, but what's gotten lost is that they're Americans. They have the right to pursue happiness as they see fit, and as long as they aren't hurting anybody else, I don't give a shit what they do, and neither should you. If you're going to attack and legislatively bind a vulnerable minority population in America, you better have a damn good reason. And "ew! I don't like it!" - ain't it.
Republicans know their voter base. Stupid culture war bullshit
These are the same sports that require parent-provided mechanized transportation of players via expensive liquid fossil fuels? Seems like the party of asshattery is barking at a non-issue, since it'll soon cost too much for those parents to provide said transportation due to GOP incompetence, corruption, aggression, and greed. Their perceived problem has been solved before it even began. Guess we really, really, won't be needing them anymore.
