It is done.

After 7 attempts over 17 years I have managed to escape my very abusive husband. It took help from the young seagoons as accommodation has been impossible, the economy bad. I had financial abuse, every kind of abuse. It has been very bad, very very bad. He knew it was over long ago , I told him. He has had GFs too.

Miss Seagoon says to rest for a week and then I'll be better already.

I hope there won't be much drama, shouldn't be.

Much love to you. More importantly, he has not been able to take away your softness, which is your greatest strength.

Omg Seagoon ๐Ÿฅบ I'm so sorry you've been living through that, and I'm so happy for you it's over. Sending you all the healing energy ๐Ÿ™

I felt like such a hypocrite all those times not saying anything when you have been sharing your own troubles with us ๐Ÿ˜”

but I could not risk x seeing anything like that , he has been known to snoop and hack all my accounts

10

Nah nah you're not a hypocrite lol that's silly talk. You were protecting yourself, it makes perfect sense to me.

I am seriously proud of you, and it pleases me so much that you had help and support ๐Ÿ’œ you're going to really bloom, and you already have so many tools to help you heal. It'll still be so hard, but you always have my love and support ๐Ÿ’œ

Wondered when I saw your comment below re Ted. Very best wishes for the future! And a peaceful transition to new life. Hopefully Bill & Ted will re-unite with you soon.

8

No, Ted is fine where he is. He is very easy to look after and Ted really does love x.

3

Jeez that sounds really rough.

Very glad to hear you've escaped an abusive husband no one should go through that.

OMFG I LOVE THIS FOR YOU!!! I seriously could NOT be happier for you! Congratulations, please take Miss Seagoon's advice and rest, you deserve it. No wonder you've been feeling achey with this weighing on you. So proud of you, Seagoon.

It took long term planning and help.

Abusers use strategies to control, so strategy is required to escape.

Thanks.

I will never understand why he has been like this.

Have you seen the tv series "Kevin Can Fuck Himself"? He's just like that except more of a loner

Holy hell that is quite the picture. That show was frightening.

Thanks.

I was starting to feel a bit hopeless, the thought of another 20 years of it was awful

life isn't going to perfect, it still might be hard

but it won't be insane and under a constant threat of violence

To all you spicy fiends out there. If I put teaspoon of reaper paste with a 1/4 cup of yogurt and a sprinkle of bay seasoning do you think that will taste alright as a dipping sauce for spicy chicken? Not after heat, more tasty. Obviously I ain't gonna sample it.

6
CEOofmyhouse56reply
aussie.zone

Yeah I know. It's gonna be hot for normal people but not for him. I've never used it in cooking but I'd like to surprise him with a half decent dipping sauce. I know the yogurt is gonna kill much of the heat. I wanna know if it would still taste alright. The tricky bit is not being able to sample it myself to adjust ingredients.

Hrmm.

One idea could be to make the dipping sauce w/o the reaper paste so you can test it then add it at the end. They don't really have much 'flavour'... it's all PAIN.

My go to atm is yogurt, lemon, lotta garlic, spices (whatever is on hand really, usually pepper cumin, coriander etc.). Really simple. The chilli sauce I'm using is probably 1/5th a reaper though ๐Ÿ’€

4

That's a good idea. I've made some yogurt concoction for my coleslaw similar to what you've written so I might just put some aside and add paste to it.

I marinated wings in yogurt, garlic, thai chilli powder, pepper, paprika and thyme. Then I'm gonna coat them in nacho cheese doritos and more pepper. Then I'm gonna bake them.

They were so good. The flavours were all there. The crumb was extremely delicate to flip so I think next time I'll pop them back into the fridge like you would a traditional crumb. Maybe give them a quick shallow fry then bake. 4/5 yum yums.

Woe, tragedy, and devastation. My fav sock shop is gone!

Twas beautiful on the drive to work this morning, however 15 minutes ago I looked up into the warehouse, went "ah fuck, it's about to rain" and sure enough within 30 seconds it was raining enough to throw the yard into chaos.

My web browser (Vivaldi) updated a few days ago and has now developed a very weird issue with Reddit. It's registering where I touch the screen as being about 1cm higher than where it actually is, so I am randomly up/down voting posts and opening the wrong thing repeatedly. It's very, very odd.

Well! In the category of "Finally It's Happened". Have just received the replacement Schlemmertopf that my elder son broke at Christmas. He promised to replace it, and now it's finally happened. I had just about given up hope. He must have searched every op shop in Sydney.

Schlemmertopf

I have never heard of / seen one of those. Among other things looks like they're good for bread?

They are fricken WUNNNDERFUL for bread and rolls. But where they really shine (as much as a clay pot can) is for a whole chicken. Or pork knuckles. Or whole fishies. Just bung everything in the soaked pot on a bed of vegies, no need for extra liquid. Put pot in cold oven, turn on the heat and leave for a couple of hours. Drain off the juices if there's too much. Serve from the pot. Cooking gets no easier.

They were the fashionable thing of the late 70s to mid-80s, and really only available secondhand now. They break if you put them in a hot oven, or put a hot one down on a cold surface, so lots got ruined because people didn't know how to handle them. Clean up is the only tricky bit as they are not dishwasher friendly.

Consider Asian shops if the exact style doesn't matter to you, plenty of clay hot pot dishes exist

3
aussie.zone

The asian ones are made a bit differently, and are a lot thicker. They also have glazed insides, which is different from the Schlemmertopf. I have one of these too, but it's used very differently.

There's another brand called the Romertopf which is very like the Schlemmertopf but a different shape. Used the same way though. Both are very much worth the $$$ imo.

Good to know. I was taking a semi wild guess. Saw plenty of terracotta plant pot breads as a kid

1

Those are pretty yum too, more like the unglazed Schlemmertopf but again, much much thicker. Excellent for bread but you can't cook a chook in them.
