My dad had lent several copies of the Hitchhiker's Guide to people and never got them back... so I bought a copy specifically to lend to him so he couldn't lend it to anyone else, and then knowing I'd never get it back I bought another copy for myself!

I've lost too many favourites to ever lend those out. Some disappeared without a request to borrow them so I even thought about getting glass fronted cupboards with locks!

I sometimes have books I'll happily give away.
