Hmm recently my device was experiencing a massive battery drain for a few days there but I haven't noticed it so much lately...is this related? I'm running accubattery now to see if my battery suddenly got worse or something compared to when it was a new device
I'd recently been trying a new browser and stopped using it as I thought it was related to the app.
I didn't realise how bad the performance had gotten until I updated. Feels like a new phone.
Technically yes,but they don't have the Titan chip and it's technically a bootloader lockable Aosp. You have iodé or or /e/os for that also.
Unfortunately, giving up Google services brings other issues - depending on your use cases (i.e. no NFC payments, not all apps are compatible like Blink Home or Whatsapp).
Having Linux on the phone is a far better option IMO as you'd have a lot more freedom to "fix" things.
Graphene is great for the security and privacy innovations they offer, including the sandboxed Google services and Play store.
Sadly not yet, only bootable but most things are still not functional. A Lemmy user is vibe coding a PMOS (nura) fork, but that will probably be quite buggy and so far, not merged back to mainline Nura.
I think it might get to functional in a year or two though!

And here I thought my device had suddenly ran out of ram or one of my apps started having major memory leaks.

Dude I've been so confused and thinking the same thing!
Legit thank you for posting this, I thought I was going insane today.
Yeah but when will the fix hit a graphene os release
Per the article they're hoping by November
I can't handle this shit for another month I'm going to throw my phone in mount doom
No that's a separate enhancement
I almost regret not going for the pixel 10 instead of fairphone 6, but it's fine. We'll get there too.
You're supporting a good company that will hopefully pave the way later on for a broader customer base.
CalysOS on the fairphone 6! Typing on it right now.
It is the best compromise. Relockable bootloader, faster updates than /e/, less problematic.
Then you don't have to sacrifice the tiny storage and lack of expandable memory of pixels.

On grapheneOS you can both use NFC and WhatsApp without google services. Never heard about blink home, but it probably works too.
sure, you can, as long as your bank has an NFC payments app. You don't get Google wallet with any custom ROM.
It might work for Whatsapp without Google services, but how do you get notifications?
Blink Home is Amazon Blink cameras app.
WhatsApp notifications work without gplay on graphene.
So another win for graphene compared to other custom roms.
Fairphone 6 can run postmarketOS (now Nura), so you made the right choice.

wait you WANT llm trash in Nura?
Oh not at all. I am saying so that work is probably lost.
not as a daily driver, unfortunately. At least for now
Thank goodness! This is getting silly!
