Naipe Cimarrón is a free strategy card game where Uruguayan wildlife fights over territory, from the countryside to the city. Pick a people (rabbits that multiply, capybaras that improvise, foxes that strike, armadillos that endure), gather Vigor and fight for a six-slot table.

Ewww obvious AI trash. Look at the dice 🤣

Edit: looks like the AI couldn’t decide on the same amount of fingers either.

I'm adding this as a separate comment, but I do have to agree with some of the other commenters that there is a lot of AI trash in the game right now. I know it's an alpha version and you are a small studio, and personally I think it's fair to leverage it to get a working prototype up, but I think replacing the AI assets/code wherever they're used needs to be the priority as a next step for the game.

The game play loop is interesting and the theme is really cool and unique so if you can transition to real art instead of AI I think the project has legs, good luck!

@noodles Fair point, and thanks for saying it straight after actually playing. The AI art got us to a playable prototype with no budget; replacing it with real art is on our roadmap as the project grows. Glad the loop and the theme landed for you.

Take a pencil and paper, and you have free art in 5 minutes.

The excuse of using AI for prototyping is just like the "art" you used: worthless.

Most people can doodle. A doodle, no matter how bad it is, is better than "AI" slop.

But keep on defending crap, that's a very smart stance.

Keep pretending there's only one truth and that everything you consider simple is simple to others. Doesn't come off pretentious at all. You sound very smart indeed.

I am pretty sure that most people either have the ability to doodle, or know someone who does.

You're just not having a point anymore but you want to keep on arguing for your ego's sake.

The mechanics seem fun, and I love the focus on Uruguayan wildlife! I'd love to give this a shot once the AI visuals are overhauled.

@Electric_Druid Thanks! The wildlife is the heart of the game, and the whole reason we make it: sharing our country and our customs with people who have never been to Uruguay. Replacing the AI art with real art is on our roadmap and we'll post here when it lands. Before that, our focus is polishing the mechanics and building a community as excited about the game as we are about making it.

Looks interesting, could use a tutorial? Or maybe I haven't found it yet, in which case it should be more obvious

@noodles Thanks, that's exactly the kind of feedback we need. There is a guided first match: pick a deck, play the bot, and it walks you through the first turn. There's also a "How to play, 1 min" button on the side of the table. But you're right, none of that is visible from the main menu, so we'll add it there. Where were you when you started looking for it?

I found the "How to play" button a couple rounds in. I didn't notice "Choose deck and opponent" until after I started a quick match, then I tried story mode, switched to a computer instead of mobile, won a round in story mode.

A couple more notes: -On mobile with a full field, some of the card information seems to get covered up. -Also on mobile, the 'x' button to get out of the collections tab doesn't seem to work. On computer UI generally seems better and fully functional so far.

There is also a lot of residual Spanish in the English version of the game. I'm a bit torn on this--I think for card names it's cool and keeps everything appropriately Uruguayan-themed, but for things like the card flavor in the 'collections' menu it might be better translated. So far I've only found actual game-rule text in Spanish in the "Truco Cimarron" section, which seems to be a different game anyway. Also, a fair amount of the 'story' text seems to be idiomatic and isn't translated very well to English. It is technically correct but doesn't make a lot of sense; I switched to Spanish and it was a lot more understandable.

You reached the end
