Such BS. Let’s pretend it’s a good rule. States run their elections.

By changing something as foundational as the envelope; or if it will be delivered; or if a single incorrect ballot invalidates thousands of votes is the main problem.

Having the system as it is in protecting the voting system.

But the parrots keep talking about fraud and they are only holding crackers.

I think it's much simpler than that. They like the idea of a very powerful president because a powerful presidency is the only way to get unpopular conservative positions enacted. But they also really don't want things going to full-on dictatorship. Why? Because in a full dictatorship, the court is just as powerless as the legislature.
