Really? We gave up Catalunya for this bogwater circuit? Valencia wasn't great either but it had more going for it than this claustrophobic mess. Lmao Ring indeed.

What a boring race honestly. This track is terribly designed, I was hoping it having a permanent section might save it, but they just made that section feel like yet another street track section instead of pulling something nicer with wider roads and more runoff; and La Monumental, while somewhat interesting, it didn't provide anything meaningful to the track. Not enought straights, not wide enough, no good corner profiles for overtaking. We didn't even get yellow or red flags to spice it up, which is weird given how the rest of the weekend played out; I know there was the VSC but it was whatever.

Audi points I guess, wonder what happened to Bortoleto, dropped out of the points in a few laps.

For sure Norris could've won if VSC timing would have helped, and if McLaren hadn't screwed up that pit stop (7s stop under normal racing, RIP).

I mean, the lack of runoff and track width isn't really a problem outside of that bit around turn 5 (?). It's mostly just shit corners for racing. I'm sure it's fun to do flying laps on in qualy, but there are literally zero overtaking spots. And there's not even a long straight for passing on. And the pitlane is comically long, making strategy nonexistent.

Probably the worst designed track I've ever seen.

Fair point, I think I didn't explain properly what I meant (and probably a bad choice of words). I was actually thinking of runoff and wider roads as in more space outside the track limits, so the walls aren't so close, at least on the permanent part of the track which shouldn't have the pesky limitations of a street circuit.

But yeah, the design on this track is abysmal, hope they can figure out some fixes for the future races

What an absolute belly flop of a race. I actually don't even know if I have the vocabulary to express how bad it was in English. Horrible, horrible track. When even the F3 race sucks and F2 just barely managed to produce a couple of overtakes you know you've got something generationally stinking on your hands. I mean, even Monaco tends to be somewhat watchable in the supporting series.

I have had plenty of examples before of races that could make you fall in love with F1. This is probably the best example yet of a race to make you fall out of love with F1.

Well, Spa 2021 is still maybe worse, but that wasn't even a race. And honestly? I found that more entertaining. Watching drivers nap and engineers play football in the pitlane was better than this shit.

Did anyone else see the camera fly into the cockpit of Antonelli in the banked corner in the replay after the end of the race? That was the most exciting thing of the race.

Edit: it’s at 1:50:00 if you have F1TV. It’s after the top 3 parked the cars and shaked hands with their team.

I wasn’t sure what you were talking about until I went back. Really neat visual effect transition from the flyover cam down to the onboard

I watched F3 and F2 races just to figure out how is the circuit during race. Even with those cars race was not that enjoyable. Besides La Monumental, track gives us nothing worth watching for.
