Tesla Recalls 3 Million Cars in China: Why Not the US?
Tesla filed a recall covering nearly 3 million vehicles in China over emergency door releases that are hard to find after a crash. Eight other automakers did the same on the same day. In the US, NHTSA has had two open investigations into the same issue for a year, and no recalls. I break down what the Chinese regulator found, what the fix actually is, where NHTSA stands, and why China's battery pack standard (GB 38031-2025) is also well ahead of FMVSS 305.
Yes, I know there's a mechanical release. That's the point.

Perhaps stating the bloomin obvious, but Trillionaire man with ridiculous influence and access to decision / policy makers says "fuck you" to Americans.
He was given the power to gut consumer protection agencies... what is the obvious reason he did that?
To save the government a couple million in bureaucratic overhead, I'd love to know if anyone bought that excuse at all.
I hope I'm not underestimating idiocy again...
My guess is that China has better standards for their people.
More so they're willing to punish rich people when they do something wrong

Life in prison.
Oh they let him live? How progressive of them.
They need to do like BMW where the electric release and emergency release are the same handle. Just have to pull it a little further. Although the ideal is to get rid of these stupid electric releases all together.
I don't even know how those electric releases got allowed in first the first place. Sure its totally fine to have a manual release behind the speaker grill. Money most definitely changed hands.
because idiot consumers fell in love with remote entry and ignition.
You can still have remote entry and a handle that opens the door.
