These Crooked Disguises

The Scottish indie rock band Biffy Clyro have a song named "The Captain", which has the following lyric

Help me be Captain of, these crooked disguises, I won't show what's underneath, it's time for surprises

I dunno if they'd be a Biffy cover band, or if they'd just be referencing the one song

Without knowing the context — and I do know the song, just not familiar with that line — I’d think it sounded like Them Crooked Vultures, another band with a nonsensical name that sounds cool.

Honestly the context is a obtuse metaphor for "help me lead this band as frontman, whilst we all put on a stage persona that's not our real self"
