Make and eat a litre of ice-cream every week. I simmer down frozen fruits to a jammy consistency, put them through a sieve, and mix them into a custard before dumping it in the ice cream mixer or ripple them through the ice-cream as it goes into the pot.
They don't all turn out perfect but I still get ice cream in more interesting flavours and for cheaper than the store. Tops out at about £6/L if you go for the fancy fruit, compared to £3-4/L for the cheapest supermarket own brand and about £10/L for Ben & Jerry's or Häagen-Dazs. Last week it was a tangy summer berry ice cream, this week it's lychee ripple.
Sit on the bench under the tree I planted in 2011. It makes me so happy to have taken care of this being for so long and now I get to bask under its shadow. I love my tree♥️
Thank you, it is! Now that fall is upon us, many Dione Moneta caterpillars come and eat from the passion fruit plant I planted right by my tree, then, when they are ready, climb up the branches of said tree to become cocoons so right by halloween the whole place is filled with orange and silver butterflies.
Cooking big batches of stuff. Usually tomato sauce, but also jams, lasagne, stews… having it right away and also freezing up a couple of meals worth of food is somehow very rewarding
Binge tv dramas with the same plot involving a witty, sword-swinging heroines. They aren’t peak cinema typically. I just like watching the moment of revenge and how bright the female leads are generally.
Pick up fresh fallen eucalyptus leaves, crunch them up, and smell. There are over 800 types of eucalypts, and they all have a unique smell (?) profile.

I kiss a little cat because it makes me happy.
The cat is very ambivalent towards this predicament.

Sometimes I narrate my life like a voice-over in a movie.
It amuses me.
