What are all these "security certificates"?

This is a screenshot of settings/security and privacy/more security settings/view security certificates on my Samsung Galaxy S23 running One UI 7.0 on Android 15.

I won't even bother to take screenshots of all the certificates, since it's a list of at least 50 entries, according to my estimation.

  1. What are these?
  2. Why are there so many?
  3. Do they all have to be turned on?
  4. Any further reading you can point me to?

To add on to what the other commenter said, these are certificates, and from the look of it, root certificates.

This is the underpinning of HTTPS and modern web encryption. Here’s the problem they are solving:

If you want to make a secure connection to Amazon and make sure data you are sending them is really Amazon and not someone pretending to be them, a root certificate is how you do it. There’s more nuance than I’m explaining, but it cryptographically verifies you are talking to who you think you’re talking to.

There is no good reason to manually be deleting them. Leave them alone, it’s not hurting anything.
