Honestly, it’s a pretty shrewd pattern of very tactically effective exploitation of German society’s pervasive intergenerational war guilt.

This also manifests in Germany’s (imo extremely wrongheaded) full-throated support of Israel (because “never again” doesn’t only mean “never again to Jewish people”, and parsing it that way is simply a different road to more or less the same…. ahem… solution that Germany was driving towards in the 1930s and 40s).

TL;DR Germany needs some societal therapy
