It looks certainly cool. If it is in fact true and not ai rendered. The setting makes me suspicious. AFAIK winged flight by flapping wings is a solved problem, but still not in the stages where you just build a small rc craft that works that way. Battery weight is a major factor and energy density. Might be very light and supercap powered, which would explain why he has them land on his hand for charging once in a while. But even then, the LEDs would weight the thing down a lot and I would expect to see something like that in a university setting not a street artist.... Not impossible, but not likely either.

I remember when j was like 12, almost 30 years ago and on vacation i bought a parrot with flappy wings. I think it was a wind up toy, could also be battery powered. It wasn't remote contolled, it juat went wherever, but to this day i'm shocked how well it worked. For how sinmple and especially kinda heavy and simple it was. So i kinda buy it, but not sure.

I had an RC dragonfly years ago that flew by flapping its wings. Much higher frequency of course, but that's true for real dragonflies too. The body was a very light piece of foam, a light motor to power the wings, a tiiiny battery that managed about 30 minutes of flight and it steered with a rotor on the tail like a helicopter.

Having precise control over the flap direction is the hard part, so I wonder how this butterfly does it. Quadcopters have autonomous stabilization, so that part is solvable, but I'm thinking more about the precision motors needed to adjust flap force and direction to make this thing stay in the air at all.
