Would growth attenuation therapy have saved Robert Wadlow?

I just learned, while in a Wikipedia rabbit hole, about the Ashley Treatment, part of which involves pre-emptive closing of growth plates.

He was killed by, if memory serves, a foot infection, being unable to properly fight it as a direct result of his height. So, you can see where I'm going with this.

And yes, I know it wasn't invented until like 40 years after he was born.
