Geological faults do not really form in this way, since the Earth's crust has no motivation to chase after any kind of bait.[citation needed]

Two things that are humbling once you know what you're looking at. One is all the stars in a very dark sky area. Two is any place where you can see the layers and layers of geologic history in the rock formations.
Can somebody explain this please?
