It's not just trump, not by a long shot. The MAGA movement underestimate Canada (actually they barely think of us as an individual nation-state at all in my reckoning, I think to Maga there is just America and foreign). They underestimate everyone that isn't America because they truly believe American exceptionalism is real and Trump's bluster is fact.

MAGA have to believe that America is able to single handedly dictate the terms of how every other country on earth and all the citizens within it, behave. That's the America in their minds, an unquestioned and unquestionable superpower that can stand against all nations combined, needs nothing from anyone and asks permission of noone.

We shouldnt make the mistake of thinking they see us as Canadian at all, we are just "not them".

Edit: I forgot the point of what I was saying though, yeah they underestimate the shit out of us and as long as we keep up the solidarity we've been showing and largely ignore dirge of hot air blasting from south of the border we will be fine, just don't forget that we have to stand in solidarity with not JUST Canada, but all of the non-america world that they hate.
