I'm not a Mercedes fan but so happy for Kimi for winning his home race!

I have always liked Kimi. Decade back they asked him how he won and in his monotone accent he basically said something like "I take da toorns, I press da gas, da car go fast". I'm paraphrasing, but his total lack of ego coming through is always funny to me.

Excellent race, one of the best this year. Such a good job by Kimi.

Nice race, I'm not a Mercedes fan but gotta say that's a great drive from Kimi, and good defense from George on those wasted tires. Ferrari though, guess home race curse had to hit someone and it wasn't gonna be the ex-teenager.

Audi once again just out of the points aahhh. This track didn't seem to fit them at all, no good pace through the weekend. At least good enough to almost kick Hamilton out in Q2.

And the Aston Martin magic they had at Zandvoort seems to have already faded out, back to your regular backmarker racing.

Zandvoort is a downforce track where the chassis is the most important, almost a Monaco light. It seems their chassis is alright after the post-summer break upgrades. Monza meanwhile is a power track. Around 80% full throttle and testing mostly the engine. Unsurprisingly Aston suffers here as the Honda PU is still a train wreck. In fact, I saw some measurements that the Aston was embarrassingly close to F3 top speeds here at Monza this year, let alone F2.

Huh, interesting. So the summer engine upgrade didn't help much last time because the aero did the heavylifting? Damn, thought AM could become competitive in the midfield, but I've been fooled by Honda.

5

I too was fooled but, in fairness around the time of the engine upgrade last race Honda were talking about Next Year^TM^, and it seems maybe there was a reason for it. This should be Aston's worst track of the year (although I can't imagine Baku being happy fun times for them either), but I would not expect miracles this season. Maybe another points finish, if we're lucky.

What a good race! I wish there hadn't been the need for a VSC, a whole race of those first ~20 laps would've been awesome.

6

If I had to find something to complain about, it would be the yo-yo overtakes with the overtake mode. At least the re-takes weren't happening in the same lap, the drivers seemed to be a bit wiser at this track. How many overtakes was Piastri involved in?

What happened to the McLarens on the last lap? Looked like team orders which would be nasty.

It looked like Lando was fighting but muffed it a few times

I checked the on board. Just well done by Norris into Ascari.

Do you have a link to this? I've seen absolutetly nothing on this. I was watching the timing tower on the screen and Norris got ahead, then behind, and ahead again and I dunno what happened.

If you have a F1.tv subscription you can check on board cameras. I wouldn't know how to export a snippet of that.

It was basically a clever use of battery and good launch into Ascari. If I remember correctly Oscar acknowledged his mistake and said he'd do it better next time after the race.

You reached the end
