Well Ken Paxton needs the help. Hes the biggest turd in the turd soup that texas republicans have been ordering since the 90s. Even his supporters want him to dial it back a bit.
So those states must be really important for his data center stuff, then.

So they see Texas as vulnerable now. Interesting.
For Texas in particular, it could just be buying legislation. SpaceX is there, and I assume a lot of other stuff from his companies. They may also view it as vulnerable too, because a Democrat being elected probably wouldn't be as generous with him.
I love it when they spend a fortune, and lose anyway.
To be fair, a third of a billion, or whatever this adds up to, isn't all that much for Musk. Sure, for the rest of us that's a ridiculous fortune, but it's not like there's much else for him to spend money on. He literally owns anything he wants already.
While this is an asshat move, 800k is not even small change for him. It is way less.
He's going to buy another fascist win.
