Need Help: Clicks Communicator or Minimal Phone 2

Hello everyone,

i am writing this from my old blackberry key 2 which is getting around 8 years now, has android 8.1. i need a successor phone.

I need a qwertz keyboard, qwerty is ok too.

So i was happy when they announced the clicks communicator and now there is a second option, the minimal phone 2. Both will come out in december 2026 if everything goes according to plan.

The unihertz titan 2 elite is out there too, but i prefer to have the option to have an open bootloader, so the titan is out of my scope....

I like that the minimal has its own android and says: its your device, of course it has an open bootloader...

But its around 100€ more money...

How would you decide?

What are your priorities?

I'd lay out a spreadsheet with the different specs/features so you can see them side-by-side. Highlight important features.

Then differences will stand out.

I don't know enough about either, but have been watching them with interest as I miss a real keyboard. Not sure I want to trade screen for it, but I did carry a Palm Treo and well, really, the screen now is smaller and wonky whenever a keyboard is up anyway.

Well they are both nice. Naja the clicks has more marketing and blin blin attitude, the minimal phone more a techy, minimal approach.

The one has a bigger battery, the other one has "android minimal" whatever that is...

Its difficult, that is why i am coming here :)

I do suspect Clicks has a better keyboard, and Minimal is targeting an Apple aesthetic.

A spreadsheet will really help - I've been surprised at what became important when doing this. Weight can be significant, as can brightness. I'd really like to see how bright either is.

Minimal looks like it may use a glass back. Eww. That means heavier and absolutely requires a case, which means more weight (and bulk).

Communicator looks like it has a textured back and a shape that'll be easier to handle.

Minimal's website is all about slick - it doesn't eve have any specs - and that really turns me off. Clicks has been open from the start about their goals, and keeping us informed.

You reached the end
