I was sympathetic to Apple Maps because it uses OpenStreetMaps data and (AFAIK) contributes back. And its not Google Maps!

I wss just getting used to it. I'd even contribute photos of places.

Does anyone here use Apple Maps? I started using it as part of diversification of services couple of years ago and it was mostly fine but I now wonder if anyone at Apple does.

Voice navigation in particular must have been switched to some LLM that was trained on data that didn’t contain enough of my language. Now Apple Maps calls a „rondo” (roundabout) a „rumdaboots”, usually surrounded by some rock eating noises. It also lost ability to pronounce most numbers over 10, especially if they’re written with diacritic signs but I guess they didn’t test if numbers work either. I was particularly confused when it pronounced „Robert Schumann street” as „Robert z humana street” (which translates to „Robert from humanities class”).

Ooh, they be going the way of Microshittification too.
