Correct! I was pissed watching this. I really thought it would be something, but an infomercial was just terrible.

Arguably that's why he's so good as an out of touch boss.
As long as someone is keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesn't accidentally shoot anybody.
That wasn't really his fault. He was handed a "prop" gun he was assured had been made safe. Then played the scene as directed. That's 100% on the armourer.
