Finland has warned that Russia is intensifying its hybrid war against Europe amid a series of fires and explosions at European defense facilities.

Prime Minister Petteri Orpo told Finnish newspaper Iltalehti that Finnish intelligence indicates Russian-orchestrated sabotage attacks are now more likely than before.

He said: “I am more pessimistic. Of course, it is based on all the information I have received, and I also follow what is happening in neighboring countries, in Europe. Russia is acting aggressively.

“I think we need to be prepared and vigilant, because Russia is clearly trying to escalate the situation.”

Orpo’s remarks follow a series of incidents across Europe.

Orpo warned that Russia’s hybrid warfare aims to weaken countries supporting Ukraine by undermining military aid.

“I can tell you that it will not work. It will work the opposite,” Orpo said.

“We must continue to offer Ukraine our strongest possible support for as long as necessary. I cannot stress this enough.

“More money for defense, more weapons and munitions produced in Europe, a stronger defense industry and critical infrastructure,” he added. “But that is not enough, we need to do more.”
