I always particularly hated this argument. “Who am I to try to understand god’s wisdom in allowing human suffering?” If god made us unable to understand why he does things, then what the fuck is the point of religion. He clearly doesn’t give a shit what we think, so we should ignore him instead of wasting our time. He can do his good works regardless of our participation.
If a priest replied “I’m not sure why he would do that, let’s try harder to figure it out” then at least continued devotion would make sense under the condition of accepting the premise. The thought terminating cliche of “God works in mysterious ways” just invalidates the whole thing.
(could be miss spelled:
for the greatest glory of god)
It answers nearly every questions as long as you accept to believe with a very strong faith, and to do not think at all… no, not at all, please, if you think even a bit it can't stick well...

Children dying of disease, war and torture? Mysterious ways indeed!
It all makes sense if you assume it was a bunch of grumpy old perverts making shit up and using god as a boogeyman.
But not when it comes to gay or trans people, god was very clear he hates them, just don't try to find where it says so in the bible
Also the “imperfect vessel” bullshit they use to justify worshiping people like orange man.
