Australian officials warn of 'destructive' US move to 'dismantle' ICC
Australian officials say they are dismayed by the Trump administration's ongoing assault on the International Criminal Court.
The Trump administration has sanctioned several ICC lawyers and announced fresh sanctions on ICC president Tomoko Akane.
The government has also been quietly maintaining contact with Australians working at the ICC who might be targeted by future US sanctions.

The Australian government will be 'all the way with pedophile trump' as per usual
I would rather we weren't the bad guys.
Brother, those few if us Americans watching everything we believed in being dismantled by this orange chunt and struggljng to maintain our sanity agree with you and feel your pain. We're seen globally as either villains, fools, or villainous fools...even as we fight to get our country back.
Keep up the fight, organise, and don't let the empire narratives divide you! 🩷
EDIT: I just saw this, I hope it encourages you: https://caitlinjohnstone.com.au/2026/08/26/all-it-takes-is-one-crack-in-the-lie-weve-been-sold/
The usa was responsible for 42% of global arms sales even prior to trump, that is 1 country, out of nearly 200 countries on earth.
The usa was repeatedly invading other nations even prior to trump
The usa is the problem, trump is just a symptom, an expected disgusting eventuality of a disgusting society.
You are right but it doesn't help the citizens of that nation who see the issues clearly but can't do enough to change the mainstream of that society if we treat them with disrespect. We need to encourage this minority, which is growing strongly due in part to the blatant excesses, incompetence and corruption of the White House and the techno and other oligarchies.
Personally, I like to see an American speaking up against their regime.
The US has never fully recognised the ICC; it never was passed in Congress/Senate, and under George W Bush formally withdrew in 2002.
The US also passed in 2002 an act that enables the President to use any and all means possible to go get any US military personnel that were charged and held by the ICC.
Interesting fact: The seven countries that voted against the treaty establishing the ICC were Iraq, Israel, Libya, China, Qatar, Yemen, and the United States. Make of that what you will.

Why such Dismay? With the ICC out of the way, Trump and his buddies can act with impunity. Netanyahu gets away with Genocide.
I'm not sure what he actually thinks would happen with the ICC gone though.
^ with impunity.
And yes, agreed.
Not gonna lie. That's not the first time that one has got me..🙂
Relatable
Do you mean they are lousy actors? 😆
Well, I'm glad (some) Australian politicians are against this one of many moves by the US/Israel alliance to visibly show they can dismantle the international community and law the way they are butchering their respective nations of origin. They have to be shown they cannot bully their way out of responsibility.
