I'm in a part of the country where I'm competing with global talent for a job. To be frank, I'm not that good - and neither are most people. It makes it incredibly difficult to get a job in the area. So, I'm not totally heartbroken about the fee. I'd like to see more companies invest in local talent.
Businesses love H1-Bs because it's practically slave labor. Let the VISA holders have a grace period to more easily switch jobs, even join a union, so the salaries get closer parity with American workers. They'd then have to compete on their merits not their low price tag.

The Indian devs in my experience are using AI now so to the haters... The offshore rip is really just pumping AI with a middle man now
