I finally learned what a flair is! Thanks!
They're very helpful in broadly-defined communities, like "Technology", or "Politics" because people can block individual flairs to narrow down the posts they get. More at https://piefed.social/c/[email protected]/p/2216045/you-can-now-block-posts-based-on-their-flair
