How to mark a pair of glasses too tell them apart?
I foolishly got both my distance glasses and readers in the same frames (i have done this before but they were different colored metal).
One pair is distance and transitions, the other is my readers. Short of going outside to watch one darken, how can I mark one (so the mark is not visible during wear) so i can figure out which is which quickly and easily?

Paint a dot of nail polish on the inside of one of the stems.
Alternatively: Coloured heat-shrink tubing on the parts that go around the ears.
I tried this once, but it rubbed off too quickly. I was trying to put it far enough back that it was out of my field of view, while far enough forward it did not rub on the side of my face.
I wonder if it'd last longer if you also put a dot of top coat over the polish?
Only other idea I had was, I know you can get generic/universal replacement stems, like Amazon has plenty for $10 or so. Maybe just get a different pair of stems that are similar enough to still look/feel good with the rest of the frame but different enough that you can tell them apart.
This here. Or paint it on both, so that it passes for an accent. Bonus Points if you can feel the dot while touching it or see it without glasses on.
I would put a lanyard on the readers, which has the added advantage of letting you keep them around your neck 🙂
Lanyard is a good idea. After the nail polish idea was suggested sand invisibly feeling, I thought maybe I can use nail polish close to the same color. Then it will be more difficult for me to see while wearing, but I should be able to feel it, and probably see it while they are off.
Are you leaving your glasses in the open when you're not wearing them? I'd strongly advise against that, glasses are too expensive and inconvenient to replace to not put them in protective case when you're not wearing them.
No, they go in the case when not wearing them.
Do you use the same case for both? Getting like a red and a blue case and being diligent about e.g. only putting the reading glasses in the blue case seems easier than trying to invisibly mark the frames ...
Yes same case for both. I am trying to cut down what I need to carry with me, and two glasses cases was too much. Plus I found myself putting them into the case I just took the other pair out of.
