Correlation is not the same as causation. It may simply be that those at risk of major depression use cannabis to elevate their mood.
I guess I'm going against that. I smoked to self medicate trauma most of my life. Its been nearly ten years since I cut down and seven since I quit. I'm in a better place than I've ever been. The problem is when those adults never confront the reasons for their depression.
