Gimmicky but its a good propaganda piece for Chinese robotics.

We’ve been able to make machines that go much faster than a human can run for at least several years now…

Dumb. Who cares how fast a robot can go. Not rocket science, it will be faster than humans. Why is this even a thing?

Anyone who are interested in robotics would care. A bipedal humanoid robot was not faster than the fastest human just an year ago. Now they are, saying this is useless is kinda like saying why are we inventing a car when horses run faster. Not all innovations are immediately useful, this is just to showcase (or advertise) the rapid improvement in robotics. Boston dynamics also did the same for their promotional videos and a lot of people liked it as you don't need to be knowledgeable on the field to understand the feats.

Whether this is a good thing to replace dangerous jobs or a cheaper alternative to wages is a different discussion but this news is certainly something worth publishing.

Yea, what I wanted was battle bots: the drone cage fight reboot.

At first this made me worry that Terminators can now out run me. Then I remembered that I was not, nor will I ever be, Usain Bolt.

/s What was wrong with wheel ? Machines can go faster than human since a century or two.

You reached the end

Chinese humanoid robot called Lightining made by smartphone maker Honor ran 100 meter in 9.32 seconds, beating Usain Bolt’s record at 9.58 seconds, at the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing. | Spyke
