Only now?
It always amazes me that anyone in the military is republican. Every GoP leader has shit on veterans and veteran care for half a century. At best they've paid lip service to it so they can steal funding for the corps and billionaires that fund their super pacs.
The vast majority of people like everything else serve for one term 3 to 4 years then get out and don't have major injuries. Republican v Democrat is basically tribal identity rural or urban tribe.
