That's always how it works: Target a small group to put a crack in the universality of protections. Use that crack to tear down protections for larger groups. Protecting small minority groups helps us all. Abandoning them hurts us all.
This is how fascism works. I agree. We have to realize that although these groups are the immediate target, it's not really a matter of trans rights, and then women's rights, and gay rights, and so on. It's human rights. If these groups lose rights, everyone loses rights. So fighting for them shouldn't be left to the groups that are immediately in the firing line. Everyone needs to defend their rights.
Your body, our choice.
These assholes are turning more liberals into gun owners, so they may well get to experience the end result of that logic before long.
Knocks on wood
Never did I image in my life that I would end up hoping so much that hell exists.
I used to have qualms about infinite torture for finite crimes. I told myself “It’s completely lopsided, and also there’s no way anyone could endure it anyways. Their psyche would just shatter eventually and then you’d just be sending pain signals to an empty shell for no reason.”
Now I view it differently. What if the shattering isn’t a road block, but the point itself. What if “hell is eternal” just means the souls that go there, stay until their minds are destroyed and there’s no one left to torture… and once that happens, then they are released and reborn to build new minds without the burden of remembering how awful they once were…
I could even understand it if their minds were mended only for it to start over, once for each person they hurt/killed… and then they get released and reborn.
Idk.
Im just so traumatized by reality, by our inability to hold evil to account, that I am finding myself wishing for supernatural accountability… which pisses me off because I know life on earth could be paradise if we were better at recognizing and stopping evil.
Why haven’t federal marshals arrested these guys for treason? Or fraud? Or their connections to Epstein? Or the cover-up of the Epstein files? Or even just for destroying the government and the economy and our relationships with our closest allies? Not to mention the ICE murderers, and all the people they’ve kidnapped and human trafficked and sent to foreign prison camps and all the women and children they have hurt and killed… the list is so fucking long that it feels absurd to write it all out. The level of disdain for humanity these people have is abjectly nauseating and profoundly surreal in its disorientation and magnitude.
Why is no one stopping this? Have we all lost our minds? Do we not see where this is heading?
We are heading towards the biggest economic depression in a thousand years with mass sickness and starvation, if we’re lucky.
We are heading towards nuclear Armageddon and the death of billions of people, if we are not.
Even if we arrested every maga politician today and enacted a socialist utopia tomorrow… I don’t know if we could stop the first bad outcome from happening.
Humanity is the true evil in the world. Some twats make up some stories a couple thousand years ago, and a bunch of real bright people believe it as fact. People then hide their hatred behind “faith” and “god”. We allow those people into positions of power, and look what happens? They now impose their hatred upon us.
Getting the Christian’s out of all levels of government won’t solve everything, but it would certainly help.
I have hope that maybe one day humanity can get past its simian inclinations to hoard resources and use violence to steal resources from rivals. We have laws against lots of transgressions and passions, except greed. Capitalism lacks in self-awareness and self-critical analysis, and will always result in societal degeneration in service of profit and private property.
Socialism engages in self-analysis and a scientific approach to observing material conditions, and adjusting to those conditions for the benefit of all humanity. It is the rational conclusion. Capitalism is based in animalistic emotions.
Ironically, Christianity preaches love, socialism and tolerance, of course with many contradictions to that in its texts. In some ways, religion can encourage people to act with more intelligence and empathy than apes. Its followers twist the beliefs to justify their own animalistic, tribal impulses founded in an evolutionary heritage where resources were scarce.
