Partial HDMI 2.1 FRL support is huge (even if it's from upstream)! I finally have 12bit color on my home theater PC! Content looks amazing now 😍
Unfortunately, it does flicker occasionally if VRR isn't enabled, but that's why it's behind a debug flag to begin with. I can't wait for Linux 7.3 to complete the implementation.
Eat shit, HDMI Forum.
This is only for AMD cards right? Nvidia was already working?
Probably, the issue is that you weren't allowed to open source the implementation.
I've never been able to successfully run Total War: Warhammer III on my Bazzite pc... until today.
Zero artifacts, runs with zero issues. Didn't work on proton 11 prior to today.
This is awesome.
The part about the OGC kernel is cool to hear. I heard about it back when they announced it, but nice to see it's still going. A nice accessible GitHub repo for more bleeding edge gaming-focused patches to be gathered and tested before going to mainline is great. I always thought grouped forks could improve efficiency in getting things to mainline.
Hadn't heard of chunkah. Sounds cool.
Huge update. Congrats and thanks to all the devs. I don't use my mini PC with it much at all yet but the hour I have you can tell it's a great feat.
Unfortunately it looks like it has problems with discrete AMD graphic cards : https://github.com/ublue-os/bazzite/issues/5520
I'm not super tech literate, is the VRAM section of this article referring to the VRAM patches valve was/is adding to steamOS to help optimize VRAM usage for lower end cards?
