Music files not playing on Android Auto
I hope this is in line with the community.
My work vehicle has no antenna but it is equipped with a stock Android Auto radio. I loaded an USB pen with several folders of my personal music library and some were accessible while others weren't.
My library is composed of mp3, flac and ogg files. I discounted the ogg files immediately as it is very rare to find an equipment that reads the extension.
The thumb drive worked flawlessly from more than a week, after which I decided to bring it home and load more music. It stopped working. No files were recognised. The radio defaulted to Bluetooth connection. My first idea was that the drive itself had burned but at home again it connects and reads fine on my computer.
I have no errors while transferring files. I have not exceeded the thumb drive capacity. I noticed the radio creates a folder in the drive, so it is finding it but ignoring the files.
Another thing that came to mind was how I format my folders and files names but that does not make sense as a folder and music that I originally loaded stopped being read.
What can be motivating this?
I don't want to connect my phone to the car in anyway.

My guess (and just a guess), is that you either a) crossed some overall file size limit... Not sure why that would make a difference but if initially you had 2GB of music and then you had 8GB, maybe it's choking after the 4GB point or something.
Other thought is that one of the files you put on there is specifically choking it... Either something in the filename or the metadata etc is causing the running android auto software to fail midway through processing all the files and that causes some to not show up.
Try again, with just the original first working batch and make sure that works, then try adding half of the new batch to see if that works, if it does, add half the remainder, and so on and so forth til you find the problem file or limit.

I'm curious to know how a USB key can be used with Android Auto. I use Android Auto with all the permissions disabled and it works fine, whether I want to listen to an MP3 or an Opus/Ogg file, but I still plug my phone in.

The radio is Android and has an USB port on the panel. I plug the drive in, select music from the menu and the system loads and reads the files through the music application

Tried formatting and reloading? Any long or unusual filenames that a really shitty industrial system might choke on?
Formatted the drive to FAT32. Reloaded it with the files. Same result.
Regarding file names, yes, there are files with very long names but it worked fine the first time.
I have a folder that I remember working flawlessly that ceased to be read. Some songs have one word titles, others have three or four words in their name.
Regarding locale, I'm using Pt-pt, but the radio has that language available.
