They may be talking about how the English translation is, for some reason, "The princess is your...", while the Japanese is basically the opposite: "You are the princess'..."

I assume Link's uncle's full line would be "You are the princess' only hope", but that won't work with the wonky English translation, and instead it makes it sound like she's your sister or something.

Maybe they were going for "The princess is your responsibility now"?

Maybe I should start learning Japanese, honestly. I interact with a lot of Japanese media lately and being dependent on localizations (which are rarely 'great') isn't good enough for me.

Just learning to read the characters costs a ton of time. Kanas alone are nearly 100 characters to learn
