Here's a verse to set the scene for the passive aggressive raven:

Once just after midnight, tired, while I fluttered, uninspired,
Looking down on college roofs I saw a room I could explore.
Round its door the light was leaking; conversation I was seeking;
Maybe there’s a scholar here, a scholar, not some sophomore.
So I tapped, and kept on tapping, tapping at that chamber door –
God! I hope they’re not a bore.
