Engineer harnesses gravity to launch a 4-gram projectile at supersonic speeds

UK-based engineer Tom Stanton has successfully built a trebuchet that can send projectiles flying at supersonic speeds...

In the video, the projectile reached 776 mph (1,248 kph) or nine miles per hour faster than the speed of sound. The proof may be in the numbers but the loud crack and echo of the sonic boom did confirm that history was made that day.

Tom Stanton is a jewel of a content creator. I have learned so much about mechanical engineering and related concepts from his videos. I can't recommend him enough, very talented dude

I watched Tom Stanton's vid and it was pretty cool. He almost made it look easy. Crazy that he built a gravity powered device that basically shoots like a gun

'Even though the world has no demand for trebuchets these days'

Um excuse me what the fuck are you talking about? No one asked me!

I almost passed this up. if the title had been built a trebuchet that sends a projectile flying faster than the speed of sound I would definately not pass over.
