In Nebraska, Blackshirt Feeders LP is building the country’s largest feedlot for 200,000 beef cattle on a square-mile slab of concrete.

Communities across the country, like the small village of Haigler, which sits about 6 miles from the Blackshirt feedlot, have become sacrifice zones for the pursuit of efficient meat production. In many places near CAFOs the water has become undrinkable. The stench makes it impossible to be outside. The air is making people sick.
