Alternatives to Google Maps Timeline and location sharing?

I make regular use of both Google Maps' Timeline feature and Google Maps Location Sharing feature.

Timeline lets me review where I've been, which is useful for tracking when I left for work and when I return in order to log my hours after the fact. Location sharing lets me see where my partner is, and when they're on their way home or to meet me somewhere. Can folks recommend alternatives to both of these? They don't need to be one single system or app.

You can self host reitti, and submit to it via gpslogger on your phone. That's how we have it set up

Thanks Ada for spreading the word 🙏 Really appreciate it.

@Andrew, I am the dev of reitti. If you need any information feel free to ask.

This is very cool. I just started architecting something very similar to reitti but it seems to already cover all the use cases I could think of - let me know if you need any additional help!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to try this out.

Just do this in combination with Colota. Never regretted hosting this, also while you doing it export all your Google timeline history and import it. The first time you'll see your full dataset you'll get sick about the amount of pinpoints. 🫣
