I fully expect to see lack of support and possibly even open sabotage by national party leadership. But these candidates in many cases have already overcome massive corporate spending against them. El Sayed between AIPAC and other corporate opposition had nearly 20 times more money spent campaigning against him than his campaign even collected. They didn't even spend all they took in yet. So that might give us some hope.
Over the last few weeks, centrist Democrats have attempted mightily to discount the Democratic Socialists of America’s (DSA) and other recent progressive victories in New York City. The victories don’t bear real political significance, they argue, because they were propelled by gentrification and the turnout was low. Unfortunately for them, this is mostly cope.
That’s the real story — not the DSA won, but the internal repercussions of them winning.
